Les paul guitar is made with a much less dense type of mahogany. The modern
one is not as heavy as the original, which was made from a heavier, denser mahogany.
The Modern one is lighter in weight, it has a weight relief holes drilled into strategic parts of the body of
the guitar, the goal of which is to reduce the heavy weight of the mahogany body. It has humbucker pickups and
a fixed-bridge tail piece. The 1954 oxblood is still one heavy guitar. It is the finest piece of wood
with six stringsattached. There are 20 models to choose from in the epiphoneline and many more gibson models.
Famous artists suchas slash, keith richards from the rolling stones, eric clapton, andjohn lennon have been known

ofchambered mahogany wood. The neck of the 1954 oxblood is solid mahogany with rosewood from madagascar for
the fingerboard. This one is made with indian rosewood. The neck is also quite think when compared to a modern
les paul. The neck is what is known as a 1950's rounded profile, which is also frequently referred to as a baseball
bat neck because of its thick rounded feel. The thicker neck, in conjunction with a long neck tenon which is set
much more deeply and tightly into the body of the guitar than on a modern les paul guitar, this
feature will give it incredible sustain and resonance.
